My wedding photography style:

My photographic style is a mixture of quirky meets, classic and candid or natural. Telling the story with a fun twist is a perfect recipe, so the moment I connected with Joji, I knew we'd get the perfect mix of images, and we did indeed.

Initial contact was via a phone call (A lost art these days) Joji explained the wedding and told me a little about John. It was to be small and intimate, with only 25 people.

Haute Cabriere Wedding Venue.

The venue they'd chosen was Haute Cabriere in Franschhoek, a stunning venue. It's just over an hour from Cape Town in the gorgeous wine town, Franschhoek. And by the way, their wines are fantastic. Be sure to pop round for a tasting, even if you're not getting married. The view is spectacular.

Joji and John got married in the Cellar with 25 close friends attending. The Haute Cabriere cellar is quaint and romantic. It's lined with wine barrels and has that earthy wine smell too. A small issue is, it's exceptionally dark for wedding photography. No problem, I set up some bounce flashes to fill the room with light. The flashes are remote controlled from my camera, also because they bounce off the walls, they don't startle or hurt people's eyes. The quality of light, with and without them, is chalk and cheese!

A chance meeting in lockdown.

Joji and John met through a dinner. Now that doesn't sound abnormal, right? Well, in any normal circumstance, their meeting would never have happened. John, a professional events rider, had come to Cape Town to visit a friend. It was then that corona and lockdown happened. John was stuck in Cape Town, which turned out to be very serendipitous, because that chance dinner introduced the couple to each other. A year later there I was shooting a wedding for a very in love pair. How wonderful is that?
