Street portrait photography in Cape Town

This incredible picture is of Richard.

A homeless man I met on the way to a shoot, he looked up at me and gave me the most incredible smile. It was as if he knew my name before I even said anything. He had such a great look about him and naturally; I had to take some pictures of him; so we agreed he would come with to my studio for a few shots. I always ask, and I like to get to know my subjects too. Luckily, I had a little time before my paid shoot was to start. While I set up the lighting, we spoke a bit and got acquainted. Richard had a fantastic, warm presence!

What an incredibly warm presence.

During the shoot, his personality just shone through in every frame. He was such a natural, even though he'd never seen a studio.

This shot was my favourite! I can't remember what I'd said, but he burst out laughing, then I did too. It was a pleasure to take pictures of him. I printed an image for him later but I couldn't find him. I never saw him again and often wonder how he's doing.
