Proposal photography is something I love doing.

What's not to love? I get to take pictures of the very beginning of a beautiful thing. I never get bored with watching her or his reaction when the question gets popped. The

Anand contacted me a few weeks ago after seeing Matthias and Svenja's proposal at Tintswalo Atlantic. He loved my dramatic but also natural style of pictures and wanted something similar.

Tintswalo is a gorgeous wedding proposal venue. It doesn't get more beautiful or romantic and they have various packages on offer too.

Asking someone to marry you is normally a surprise, so we don't want to give it away. That's why I usually hide away, taking pictures with a long lens so they aren't aware that I'm around.

I play 'pretend tourist' with lots of cameras.

I've pretended to be a tourist, right down to dressing like one! Hidden in bushes and taken pictures from behind a carpet hanging on the balcony. That one was fun and I was sure I'd been 'made' a few times. I found out later, she did not know I was there. Skulking around like a dodgy paparazzo in the bushes! Thank goodness I don't have to do that much.

A cloudy sky makes for incredible pictures!

One thing I love about Tintswalo Atlantic is its sunsets. They are incredible. We'd booked the shoot, specifically aiming to shoot in the golden hour. On the day it was overcast and there was to be no sunset. Perfect!! As you'll see in the photos, a cloudy sky makes for magnificent pictures indeed!

I didn't have to hide in the bushes.

Anand had told her he'd hired me to take a few pictures of a 'special' weekend. Lush didn't bat an eyelid.

The proposal moment.

The staff at Tintswalo Atlantic had set up the Lamu Deck with rose petals, champagne and view to die for! Lush was clearly blown away when Anand took her to see it! 10 pointes Anand!

He'd had set up a romantic puzzle for Lush, all under the pretense of a romantic evening. While she concentrated on that, he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Her reaction, priceless. Such a happy moment. I loved to being there capturing it for them. I'm so pleased with how the images have come out after editing them. That cloudy sky with Hout Bay in the background looks amazing!!
